Heroes in our Midst

Every day, without any fanfare, thousands of Americans are making a positive difference in the lives of others. 

They serve as mentors and role models to children and teenagers.  They drive their elderly neighbors to the market or church or doctor’s appointments. They volunteer in hospitals, rest homes and schools.

In short, they are the everyday citizen “heroes” of our communities – individuals who are taking the time to reach out to others, share their emotions, and strengthen the bonds that bring communities together.

To encourage Americans to reach out and honor these unsung heroes – and to begin themselves to connect with others -- the Greeting Card Association, in partnership with the Big Brothers Big Sisters organization, has launched a nationwide public outreach campaign called “Heroes in Our Midst.”
