Greeting Card Couture!
The creativity of the greeting card industry took a fashionable twist at the Greeting Card Association’s annual LOUIE Awards in 2005.
The theme for the industry’s awards program -- Greeting Cards…Always in Fashion – captured the imagination of several greeting card publishers, who agreed to try their hand at creating clothing from greeting cards.
Take a peek at some of our favorites. And yes, all of these clothing items were made from greeting cards.

Louis XIV Ensemble
Great Arrow Graphics
Buffalo, NY
Historically accurate re-creation of Louis XIV fashion made from cutting, shaping and then folding more than 1,500 greeting cards to create depth and texture. Muslin patterns were created for all of the costume items, including the curled wig. The greeting cards were then hot glued or hand sewn into place to create the look of the fabrics used during the late 1600s. Holiday, Passover, and Thanksgiving cards are used in the coat, long shirt and wig. Anniversary cards give the lace look to the jabot, wrist ruffles and petticoat-like breeches. Modeled by Alan Friedman, president, Great Arrow Graphics.
