Neil has 30 years of sales, sourcing, marketing, design, promotion, packaging and prototype-development experience with paper products, greeting cards, accessories, jewelry, housewares, pet products, novelty/gift, outdoor décor and barware products. 20 years of global sourcing experience, and his products have sold into many accounts including Williams Sonoma, Crate and Barrel, Ace Hardware, Sur La Table, Target as well as nearly 1000 independent retailers in the US and Canada. He has even had a cutting board “guest-star” in the Sex in the City movie. His current sales concentration is in the grocery and drug channels on a national and regional focus.
Attorney and Postal Consumer Advocate
Doug Carlson has enjoyed a lifelong interest in postal operations, including collection, processing, transportation, and delivery of mail. In 1996, he began participating in Postal Regulatory Commission (PRC) proceedings as a citizen representing the interests of the general public. He advocated for improved postal services at lower costs and successfully influenced PRC decisions on Postal Service rate and service proposals. He also focused extensively at the local level on restoring collection times for blue collection boxes to later hours to expand customers’ access to same-day collection of their mail.
Doug holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and a law degree, both from the University of California, Berkeley. For the past 15 years, he has served as the registrar and assistant vice chancellor for student information at the University of California, San Francisco. In addition, you can find him in Berkeley on every football and basketball game day, where he has been operating the clocks and scoreboards for the California Golden Bears for over 30 years.

Amanda has worked in the UK greeting card industry for over 30 years, and was appointed as Chief Executive of the UK Greeting Card Association in December 2018. A role that provided the opportunity for Amanda to give something back to an industry that she is passionate about. Previously Amanda was Sales and Marketing Director at Caroline Gardner, making an instrumental contribution to a period of exciting growth in an innovative design-led card and gift company supplying leading national and independent retailers in the UK and across the world. Prior to that Amanda held senior roles at Hallmark Cards UK, and The Andrew Brownsword Collection, creators of the Forever Friends bears.In the early part of her career Amanda had her own business importing and distributing products, and latterly as a business consultant and mentor. She has served as a non-executive director for a manufacturing business and as a committee member with both the Giftware Association and previously the Greeting Card Association. Outside the business world Amanda works voluntarily at an all female penitentiary as a member of the Independent Monitoring Board at Her Majesty’s Prison Bronzefield.
Daniel Richards Group
Since 2012, Christina has been a top performing sales rep for the Daniel Richards rep group based in Atlanta, Georgia. Her brands have a primary focus of stationery, gifts, books and personal care. In addition to serving Daniel Richards key accounts on the east coast, she also covers independent retailers in the territories of central and southwest Florida. Christina credits the time she spent helping a friend operate a small gift store in Orlando in helping her become a high-achieving sales rep. During that period she gained valuable experience buying store product, merchandising, managing inventory and working the sales floor. Prior to working as a sales rep, Christina was a teacher and then a stay at home mom caring for her two daughters and son. Christina earned a BA from Mercer University and a master’s in teaching from Rollins College. She currently lives in Orlando, FL, with her husband, 16 year old son, and golden retriever.

Lindsay Henry is the Founder and Creative Director of Inklings Paperie, an award-winning stationery and lifestyle brand. Lindsay received her Bachelor of Design at York University in Toronto (Canada) and worked as a brand designer before founding Inklings in 2010. She was named by Stationery Trend Magazine among the 40 under 40 Designers to Watch in 2017, and has been the recipient of six LOUIE Awards. Inklings is now carried by over 500 stores across North America and Europe including Anthropologie, Target and Starbucks. Lindsay lives in Canton, Michigan with her husband Mark and their two boys.

Christopher Karpenko holds the position of Executive Director Brand Marketing at the United States Postal Service. In this role he oversees the development and execution of nationwide Brand Marketing strategies through a scalable, revenue generating marketing platform which positions the USPS as the partner of choice for consumers, commercial customers and industry partners. Chris has brought innovation to the marketing efforts with his strategic thinking and strong creative skill. Chris is a lean six sigma certified green belt and holds an Executive MBA in Finance and Economics from the University of Rochester’s Simon School of Business. He has served on numerous nonprofit boards in his community, has written for several industry publications and is a sought out speaker at national industry events.

Kristy Lewis is the national marketing director for Hallmark Cards, Inc. In this role, she oversees the planning, development, and delivery of a fully integrated marketing strategy for Hallmark’s greeting card business. Kristy uses a variety of media types and distribution channels to help remind people of the power of greeting cards in strengthening relationships during holidays, celebrations, and any-day moments. Prior to joining Hallmark, Kristy worked to reinvigorate established brands and launch new ones, leading retail marketing and e-commerce strategies for Bernstein-Rein Advertising, Beauty Brands, and start-up e-commerce subscription company VineOh.com. She has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Missouri.

Sarah joined Hallmark in December 2012 as Federal Affairs Manager after six years as Director of Political Affairs at the Property Casualty Insurers Association of America (PCI).In her role at Hallmark, Sarah is responsible for representing Hallmark on federal issues with Congress, government agencies and trade associations. She chairs the Greeting Card Association Public Affairs Committee, serves on the Envelope Manufacturers Association Board of Directors, and Public Policy Steering Committee. Sarah represents Hallmark on the Executive Committee of Consumers for Paper Options and Chairs the Finance Committee. Sarah is active in the National Association of Manufacturers, and serves as the Great Plaines Regional Chair and member of the Executive Committee of the Public Policy Steering Committee and is a PAC board trustee. Sarah is a former National Association of Business PACs board member.Sarah also serves as President of HALLPAC, Hallmark’s Political Action Committee. In this role, she oversees the HALLPAC Executive Committee and Federal Contributions Committee, coordinates recruitment efforts, special events with elected officials and guest speakers, and works to ensure that all contributions to candidates align with the mission and values of Hallmark and its subsidiaries.Sarah earned a master’s degree in international commerce and policy from George Mason University and a bachelor’s degree in political science and Spanish from Mount St. Mary’s College in Los Angeles.

Sadie Piller creatively leads and builds merchandising strategies for nearly half of the product categories at Paper Source. She was named to the top 40 under 40 gift industry professionals list in 2018. Sadie has a deep affection for paper crafting and is passionate about inspiring Paper Source customers to Do Something Creative Every Day.

Patti leads Consumer Marketing Services at American Greetings which consists of Consumer Insights, Social Media and Public Relations. Her teams are responsible for developing a deep understanding of consumer trends, attitudes and behaviors to drive company strategy and use those insights to engage with consumers and stakeholders through social channels and public relations. Prior to joining American Greetings, Patti was the Director of Customer Market Insights for Bath & Body Works where she led consumer insights initiatives to guide brand strategy and inform the successful launch and restage of portfolio brands representing over $2.4B in annual sales. Patti started her career in her hometown of Chicago, Illinois where she built the market intelligence function for RR Donnelley. She also held leadership positions at several premier market research companies where she consulted with a variety of Fortune 500 clients to identify new opportunities, build brands, launch products and services, and grow sales and customer loyalty.

George White has been President and COO of Up With Paper, the world’s leading pop‐up greeting card company, since 2004, leading that company to strong growth and diversification by surrounding himself with a smart, hard-working, and dedicated team. Since 2016, he has also served as Group General Manager, Consumer Products, for the CM Paula Company, adding daily oversight of GeoCentral (beautiful earthly goods) and management oversight of Remtec (robotics) and Art Metals Group (stamping and coining) to his responsibilities.George has twice founded and led his own marketing, PR and content development firms, and was a VP at Gibson Greetings and US Playing Card Company. He started his career in politics, serving as Legislative Director and then Chief of Staff for a member of the US House of Representatives, before fleeing Capitol Hill with his wife Anne after five years.A graduate of Duke University, George is now Vice President of the Greeting Card Association, and also served as co-chair of the inaugural Noted. He has coached lots of youth sports teams, which he says well prepares him for any issues arising in the work world and greeting card industries. He has two sons, who have become fine young men during his time in the greeting card industry, and who fortunately look much more like Anne. When not madly typing on his computer on behalf of Up With Paper or the GCA, he can be found traveling with Anne, playing Ultimate, at a Duke basketball game, calmly discussing how to improve American politics and government, or reading a book—often a presidential biography.
