GREETING CARD ASSOCIATION ANNOUNCES CANCELLATION OF *NOTED 2020

WASHINGTON, DC – March 16, 2020 – It is with a very heavy heart, but with a clear understanding of the importance of the health of all members of the greeting card community, that the Greeting Card Association announces the cancellation of Noted 2020 in San Francisco.

The world is grappling with an issue of enormous scale and human impact, and our thoughts are with everyone that has been impacted by the outbreak of coronavirus (COVID-19).

The main reason we launched Noted was to provide an event where our greeting card community could gather to connect and learn, and where each maker could personally show the world their amazing product.  The community’s well-being is of the utmost importance to us, and something we take very seriously.  We therefore believe it is our role and responsibility during this time to prioritize the health and well-being of our members and partners, while also playing a constructive role in supporting local health officials and government leaders as they work to contain the virus. It is through that lens that we have made the very difficult decision to cancel Noted 2020.

We encourage all members of our community to implement and follow best practices in accordance with public health guidance, including those issued by the CDC.  It is the responsibility of each of us to do our part to minimize the impact of COVID-19 on our communities, local and world-wide.

Noted will return in 2021, bigger and better.  In the coming weeks and months, the GCA will be exploring the near and long term options for Noted and our support of the community, working through the industry effects of COVID-19. The GCA is committed to its mission of celebrating, promoting and preserving the tradition of sending greeting cards. The GCA encourages our members to exhibit their products in the 2020 summer markets, including in GCA Village opportunities at Unbound/BookExpo in late May, the Dallas Gift Market in June, and NY Now in August.
