DENVER, CO (November 16, 2023) – The Greeting Card Association (GCA) is thrilled to announce the appointment of Andy Meehan, Consultant to Designer Greetings, as its new President, succeeding Amy McAnarney of Hallmark, Inc., who served as President from 2021 to 2023. The transition in leadership took place at the GCA’s annual Workshop & Retreat, where Amy McAnarney handed over the reins after a successful tenure. During her term, McAnarney provided exceptional leadership, building upon the foundation set by her predecessor, and advancing the organization’s growth.

As the newly appointed GCA President, Andy Meehan will lead the association’s Executive Committee and Board of Directors through October 2025. Meehan’s responsibilities will encompass providing strategic guidance and direction for all facets of GCA’s activities. This includes overseeing signature annual events such as it’s San Francisco-based tradeshow *Noted: The Greeting Card Expo + Gifted: The Creative Gift and Home Expo, the prestigious Louie Awards competition, which recognizes outstanding greeting cards, and the annual educational Workshop + Retreat.
Commenting on his appointment, Meehan expressed his enthusiasm, saying, “I am deeply honored to assume the role of President for the Greeting Card Association during this pivotal moment in our organization’s history. As we continue to evolve and adapt to embrace the diverse voices within our vibrant community, I am excited to lead these efforts.”

“In addition to our ongoing advocacy work, including our vital engagement with the U.S. Postal Service and members of Congress, I eagerly anticipate opportunities for our members to come together in person and virtually. Our vibrant industry is committed to helping consumers stay in touch with their family and friends through greeting cards and stationery,” Meehan added.

The next opportunity for the GCA community to come together will arise on April 17 + 18, 2024, at the Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture in San Francisco when GCA hosts its annual event, “*Noted + Gifted,” the exclusive west coast market for creative gifts, stationery, greeting cards, home decor,  and more.

Andy Meehan brings four decades of greeting card experience to his new role as GCA President, spanning sales, marketing, and product development. Since Designer Greetings acquired his card/stationery company in 2018, Meehan has been a consultant and advisor to Designer Greetings, currently serving as their VP Business Development. “As our organization and industry grow and evolve, Andy’s ability to connect a wide range of stakeholders will be instrumental to our continued success,” says Nora Weiser, Executive Director of the GCA. She emphasized that Meehan’s depth of industry expertise and strong network in the cards and stationery and related gift community make him well-prepared to lead the GCA into a new era of growth and innovation.
