GCA’s Public Affairs Committee – We need your help!

Since January 2000, the price of first-class mail has increased 19 times—six of those hikes occurring just in the last three years. Meanwhile, service quality and consumer mail usage continue to decline.

While the GCA strives to boost greeting card mail volume through advocacy as well as cooperative marketing efforts, many of these gains are erased as postage prices climb.

These are challenges that affect every one of us as GCA members!

Now, the Committee is facing yet another battle: the alarming rise of counterfeit sales in the U.S. greeting card industry. Many GCA makers have seen their designs stolen and sold for a fraction of their worth on low-cost e-commerce sites. This issue is escalating—and action is urgently needed.

The GCA Public Affairs Committee is deeply committed to fighting for you every single day—but we can’t do it alone. We need YOUR help.

To continue our advocacy efforts, we ask that every member of the GCA (and our colleagues in the industry!) contribute to the work, investing in the future of the greeting card industry and your company’s continued success.

OUR ASK

The GCA is the sole representative of the citizen mailer in dealings with the USPS, Congress, and the PRC. This gives us added responsibility. Through the experience and expertise of sitting on the Public Affairs Committee, the GCA can punch well above our weight, as witnessed by our strong relationships and public affairs wins in Washington, D.C. (read below!).

We ask you to please consider contributing to our work on behalf of our members and the greeting card industry. Suggested contribution levels are listed below; however, any contribution is greatly appreciated. Please reach out to any committee members for more information.
