THE GREETING CARD ASSOCIATION PICKS DETROIT

Annual Workshop & Retreat to be held Sep 30 – Oct 3, 2020 at the Westin Book Cadillac Hotel

DETORIT, MI – February 18, 2020 – The Greeting Card Assocation (GCA) is a growing community of 220+ publishers from across North America. Well-established companies with thousands of employees join forces with niche greeting card publishers ranging in size from 1 to 100 people – all devoted to promoting, protecting, and preserving the greeting card industry.

“The GCA has chosen Detroit for the location of its Annual Workshop & Retreat in 2020,” says GCA President, George White. “Our industry is at a pivotal moment; with four consecutive years of increases in the number of greeting cards mailed through the US Postal Service and dramatic increases in usage by millennials, we are winning relevance in a shifting retail landscape. We are excited to use Detroit not only for our annual business workshop and retreat, but as our classroom to celebrate creativity, resilience, inventiveness, and the unique power of connectivity that greeting cards possess.”

The four-day workshop and retreat is open to all greeting card publishers, and will include facility tours and a reception at Avanti Press, located in downtown Detroit, on September 30th.  Two days of programming on October 1st and 2nd will feature thought leaders and entrepreneurs, plus owners and creators with card publishers from across the country. The Annual GCA open Board Meeting will be held on Saturday, October 3rd.

The Westin Book Cadillac Hotel has been selected as the official hotel. Registration is scheduled to open June 1, 2020.
